Alessandro Dell’Acqua Renews Contract with Rochas

Amid widespread musical chairs at play among the fashion industry’s creative directors, Alessandro Dell’Acqua is staying at Rochas. The Italian director joined Paris-based Rochas in 2013, where he oversees the house’s womenswear. Dell’Acqua lauched his eponymous – with which he has no connection now – in 1996 and the No. 21 fashion brand in 2010. He spent time with Les Copains in Italy in 2013 before succeeding Marco Zanini at Rochas.

Philippe Benacin, chairman and chief executive officer of Inter Parfums SA, Rochas’ parent company, stated that Dell’Acqua’s “elegantly eccentric touch has contributed, and will continue to contribute, to modernizing the brand’s image and identity.” Benacin also called him “an obvious choice” for pursuing the label’s development.

Stéphane Lemonnier, director of fashion and accessories at Rochas, told WWD that with Dell’Acqua “the image we’re building is consistent, and we think in terms of commercial it’s going the right way.” She noted that Dell’Acqua is highly creative as well as business-oriented, “which is something we all want to have today. He is really the person that matches our expectations for this position.”

The terms of Dell’Acqua’s contract renewal have not been disclosed.
