On the heels of his appointment as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent in April, Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello has confirmed that his eponymous label will be put on hiatus so he can focus on YSL. Sources close to the matter reported this spring that Vaccarello, who specializes in designing the "little black dress" and is a fan of asymmetric designs, agreed prior to accepting the YSL gig to stop developing his own brand and to focus solely on Saint Laurent. The designer’s first collection for Yves Saint Laurent is set to be shown in October during Paris Fashion Week.
In a statement on Tuesday, Vaccarello thanked “everyone who supported his brand since its launch in 2008 and made it so successful." And added: "This adventure has been amazing but I now feel the need to fully focus on this new project."
KCD Paris, Vaccarello's public relations representative, denied reports at the time, saying, "The House of Anthony Vaccarello would like to officialy deny that the designer has any plans to stop his eponymous line."
