Apple Just Poached YET ANOTHER Fashion Industry Figure

Just days after Burberry's former social media whiz joined the Retail division at Apple, the Cupertino, California-based tech company has hired Catherine Monier, formerly the European President and retail head at Yves Saint Laurent. Paul Deneve, who served as the CEO of Yves Saint Laurent before leaving in July 2013 to lead the Special Projects at Apple, reportedly hired Ms. Monier. While her official title and start date have not yet been disclosed, we do know that she will report directly to Apple's CEO Tim Cook. According to sources, one of Deneve's Special Projects is retail strategy, in preparation of Apple's launch of wearable tech and its rumored expansion into fashion.

Monier's appointment comes on the heels of the start of the brand's new Digital Marketing Director, Musa Tariq, who worked under Angela Ahrendts at Burberry (Ahrendts left her eight year long tenure as CEO at Burberry to head up Apple's Retail Operations division this past May). More directly, Tariq comes to Apple via Nike, where he served as the fitness giant’s senior director of social media and community until mid-July. Before him, Apple poached Ahrendts from Burberry, Patrick Pruniaux from LVMH-owned Tag Heuer, and Deneve from Yves Saint Laurent. More to come, I am sure …
