Britney Spears Settles Perfume Lawsuit

Settling out of court, Brit? We aren't too surprised. Brand Sense Partners, a Los Angeles-based brand management and business development firm, filed suit against the pop princess, her Britney Brands co, and her manager father, early last year in Los Angeles Superior Court for breach of contract and fraud, amongst other claims.

Turns out, Brand Sense arranged the deal between Spears and beauty giant, Elizabeth Arden, for her Radiance perfume. Under the Spears - Brand Sense contract, Brand Sense had the sole right (worldwide) to license the Britney Spears name and logo to third parties and was entitled to 35% of the profits Spears made from the perfume. After contracting with Elizabeth Arden on her own and granting them a similar exclusive license, Brand Sense alleges that Spears never paid them anything. In the suit filed in March 2011, Brand Sense was seeking more than $10 million in damages for the harm caused by Brit's "malicious, deceitful, deliberate, willful, and fraudulent ... conduct."
