CL on Style, her Designer Friends and Lil Kim

On the heels of the release of her latest English-language video, Korean pop star, CL, caused a fury on the web this weekend, just as she has been making waves in the fashion industry for the past several seasons. Whether she is walking in a DKNY show or sitting front row at Chanel, Jeremy Scott or Kye, K-Pop fans and industry insiders, alike, can’t seem to get enough of her. In light of the release of “Hello, Bitches,” (which is embedded below) our friends over at i-D sat down with CL to talk about her style, Lil Kim, and how her relationships with designers have influenced her look. Here is an excerpt from that interview

What can fans expect to see in terms of your look as [your solo] album gears up?

I've always been colorful and taken risks. I like to play different characters. I want to continue to do more than one style as to keep it interesting and fun.

How have your relationships with designers like Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang influenced your style?

Fashion and music are connected since both are expressions. I love to perform and express myself to inspire people. That's why fashion is a huge inspiration to me.

Which other female musicians do you look to for style inspiration?

Lately, I really like the early 2000's Lil' Kim look.
