A year and a half ago, Givenchy welcomed a new CEO, Sebastian Suhl, who joined the Paris-based design house after leaving Prada. Suhl recently spoke out about the brand, which has experienced impressive growth over recent months, saying: "I think the brand was really just waiting to explode. I think we have an exceptional brand on our hands. This has been one of the great maisons in couture history and in general."
Under Suhl's direction, Givenchy is set to open 26 more boutiques next year. The brand opened a 4,000 sq ft flagship on Avenue Montaigne in Paris this month, and has additional stores slated to open in New York, London, Rome, Milan and Tokyo in this upcoming year. And one in Las Vegas, if the rumors are true. Judging by creative director Riccardo Tisci's thoughts on the matter, Suhl is fitting in quite well. Of Suhl, Tisci said: "He's been effectively leveraging the Givenchy DNA with his own hands, and he's given the house amazing codes. Our product is very much desired." Givenchy DNA, amazing codes? It sounds like Suhl may be the guiding force in the house's much talked-about (and much needed) move away from streetwear-chic. Thoughts?
