On the heels of rumors that began swirling today that Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane had left the company late last month due to "creative differences," the Paris-based brand has confirmed that the reports are nothing more than rumors. According to a statement from the house's public relations team, which was given to fashion site, The Daily Front Row, "Hedi Slimane has not left Saint Laurent.”
No sources were named in the Daily Front Row's original post, where the rumors of Slimane's departure originated. The site's columnist originally stated that "calls to the Saint Laurent U.S. PR team today were met with 'No comment,'" leaving some to question the authenticity of the Daily Front Row's social media fury-causing report.
Slimane, who joined the house in 2012, has been one of the most buzzed-about designers ever since while dramatically overhauling the brand — starting with changing its name from Yves Saint Laurent to simply Saint Laurent. The buzz comes after a year of major changes at renowned French fashion houses, from Lanvin to Christian Dior to Balenciaga.
