In something of an unlikely pairing, Gosha Rubchinskiy debuted a collaboration with Burberry at his Spring/Summer 2018 show on Friday in Saint Petersburg - his second show to be staged in Russia in less than a year. The collaboration between the cult-favorite fashion designer and the fabled British brand consists of a mere eight pieces, including a trench coat and logo-ed a button-up shirt and shorts, which Rubchinskiy created in connection with Burberry’s chief creative Christopher Bailey.
“I have been a big supporter and admirer of Gosha’s creative work for a long time,” Bailey told BoF of the collab. “He has an innate cultural sensibility and I was honored when he asked us to collaborate together for his new collection. His reinterpretation of some of our most iconic designs, feels exciting, new and relevant whilst paying enormous respect to their British cultural heritage.”
“Burberry has always symbolised the epitome of classic British style to me,” added Rubchinskiy. “Their timeless pieces are the perfect balance to our modern streetwear, creating a great mix. I’m very happy with the result of our collaborative work.”
According to Burberry’s Twitter account, the collab will drop in stores in January 2018.
