Chicago-based womenswear label Creatures of the Wind, which is known for its whimsical and gleefully eccentric wares for the modern-day woman is set to expand. A nominee for this year's CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, Creatures of the Wind, has taken on an investor. Matthew Walker, the former President and COO of The Row (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's collection) has invested an undisclosed amount of money in the label, according to WWD.
As a result, the label is set to expand from three employees to 14 or 15, and will be opening a new Soho, New York design studio. Walker will become Creatures of the Wind’s President and CEO. So, what's up next for design duo Shane Gabier and Chris Peters? There is reportedly a collaboration with Sanyo Japan in the works, an expansion of the brand's knitwear courtesy of the brand's 2013 Woolmark prize nomination, and an increasing number of stockists. Also on the horizon: a flagship and an e-commerce site. We could be happier for Chris and Shane!
