Jon Buscemi, half of the founding duo at footwear brand Gourmet, is set to release a collection this Fall of high quality leather goods. What piqued our interest? Aside from his amazing choice of model (fashion enigma, James Goldstein, a fashion scene regular for the past 30 years, who is almost always dressed in a tapered suit made of some sort of exotic skin—maybe it’s python, maybe it’s ostrich—and topped with an elaborate hat, which is also often made of an exotic skin)? The Hermès-inspired nature of the shoes, of course.
What Jon Buscemi refers to as the Buscemi shoe (and teases on his not-yet-fully-launched website), is quite literally a Birkin bag in sneaker form. The shoe, which model Goldstein has a pair of and told us "I like the Buscemi shoe," comes in black, white and red, consists of "obnoxiously high quality" leather (Goldstein's description), gold Hermès-like hardware, and even the Birkin/Kelly handle. They are not yet available for purchase (nor have prices been released), but are slated to debut at selected retailers very soon. Once they are available for gifting and/or purchasing, I think it is pretty safe to assume that they will be adorning Kanye West's feet in no time. Thoughts?
