THE FASHION LAW EXCLUSIVE - French design house, Chanel, does not design ski masks. This mask with an embroidered Chanel logo that Justin Bieber has been sporting recently is a fake. In fact, because Chanel makes hats, this is not only a fake, it would probably constitute trademark counterfeiting. Thus, Glass Cloud Vintage, the NYC-based brand responsible for this infringement, will likely be getting a cease and desist letter from Chanel any minute now. The pop star shared a picture of himself wearing it on Instagram today with the caption, "Channel." Also, with just about every fashion blog labeling it a "Chanel ski mask," the legal department at Chanel is certainly anything but pleased.
