Fashion designer L’Wren Scott killed herself in her Chelsea, Manhattan apartment today, according to police sources. Scott, who stood at 6'3", was a model after being discovered by famed photographer Bruce Weber in high school and then a celebrity and film stylist before launching her London-based collection in 2006. She was also the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones' member, Mick Jagger. Her death comes on the heels of the last minute cancellation of her Fall/Winter 2014 runway show, she had blamed on fabrics that arrived too late for samples to be sewn in time for the event.
Of the late designer, the New York Times' Suzy Menkes wrote: "Ms. Scott was born in Utah. Her exceptionally tall frame and pale skin, framed by dark hair, drew her to Paris as a model. But her later move to Los Angeles took her into the realm of the hyper-glamorous, as she developed as a movie costume designer and advised stars about their looks. As a much lauded but discreet stylist, she became a power behind the Hollywood thrones .. She started her fashion collection eight years ago, building it on her own elegant and towering self."
Rest in peace, L'Wren Scott. You will forever be remembered and missed.
