How much does your own personal style influence your work as designers?

MK: It doesn't. We design for our customers and try to balance being ahead of trends while maintaining an everyday casual attitude.

What three words would you use to describe the ultimate Elizabeth and James girl?

MK: Effortless, confident and eclectic

Who are your top style pin-ups and why?

MK: Gigi Hadid - whether she's on the carpet or the street, she always looks effortless and cool.

A: Amber Heard - she balances her bohemian look with a touch of edge.

What are the five things in your wardrobe that you couldn't live without?

A:  Comfort is important. Silk blouses, denim, loafers, scarves and a bag that can fit all my things.

MK: Old Textile Elizabeth and James denim, The Row Button Down, my vintage jewelry, sunglasses and a pair of classic pumps.

What's the best piece of career advice that you've ever been given?

A: Don't be afraid to take risks, well-informed risks.

MK: No is a full sentence.

What advice would you give about how to successfully work as a duo?

MK: We've always worked together so it feels natural to us. To be able to have a sounding board and to trust the person who is your partner, is beneficial across all aspects of running a business.

A: Listen to each other's ideas and opinions. It exposes you to other perspectives.
