OLIVIER THEYSKENS has parted ways with Theory after nearly four years at the helm of the New York-based label. Theyskens's last collection for Theory will be Resort 2015, after which the in-house design team will take over. The designer, who did stints at Nina Ricci and Rochas, joined Theory in 2010 to create an additional collection for the label, Theyskens' Theory, but was subsequently appointed named the creative director of its main collection in 2011.
Theyskens, who is said to be pursuing other design projects, told WWD: "It has been an amazing opportunity to work with Andrew [Rosen, CEO of Theory] and to benefit from his knowledge in this dynamic segment of fashion." This announcement comes on the heels of a relatively recent brand name change from 'Theyskens Theory' to 'Theory by Olivier Theyskens'.
Of Theyskens' departure, Rosen said: "I am grateful for Olivier's extraordinary contribution to Theory over the past three-and-a-half years, and I am particularly excited to see what he does next. Olivier has done great work at Theory, and I believe his appointment at the company and his creativity within the studio enhanced the brand and added a new dimension and new possibilities to the market segment."
