Peter Copping is leaving Oscar de la Renta. Formerly the artistic director of Nina Ricci before taking the helm of de la Renta, Copping was named as creative director of Oscar de la Renta just days before the house's legendary founder's death in October 2014. Of his appointment, the late Mr. de la Renta called Copping "a great talent ... along with our shared design sensibilities, we both have a deep curiosity about the wider world, from music and art to architecture and gardens.” As of the New York Times’ Vanessa Friedman: Copping “has left after less than two years. No successor named [for the New York-based design house]. Fashion world turmoil continues.”
According to a statement from Copping, “After almost two years at Oscar de la Renta, personal circumstances require me to return to Europe. I have loved my time in New York where I hope to return at some point in the future."
