Public School Designers Focusing All Their Attention on Womenswear

NYC-based brand Public School is focusing pretty heavily on its newly-launched womenswear collection. Designers Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, who were awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award and the CFDA Award for Best Emerging Menswear brand, debuted womenswear for Fall/Winter 2014 this past February, and it sounds like they may phase out menswear altogether.

At the opening of the Anna Wintour Costume Institute yesterday, Daily Front Row caught up with the designers, who spoke about the success of their womenswear collection (I'm guessing by way of reviews, as the clothes themselves haven't hit stockists yet), including the fact that they are focusing all of their attention on it at the moment. According to Osborne: “I think we’ve forgotten all about men’s at this point; we’re just focused on women’s!”

Chow agreed: “Our attention has definitely been diverted towards that, all the way.” While the designers are rightfully excited about their new addition (which is good news for high end streetwear-loving girls), I don't think PS menswear fans need to worry. Given the industry excitement surrounding the men's wears, I highly doubt the boys will let that aspect of their brand fall by the wayside anytime soon.
