Raf Simons has just single-handedly upped the ante for the already highly-anticipated Fall 2017 show season. The Belgian designer plans to bring his Fall/Winter 2017 men's show to New York in February just ahead of his debut at American fashion brand, Calvin Klein. Simons, who recently took the helm of the newly united men's and women's division at Calvin Klein, customarily shows the seasonal collections for his 21-year old Antwerp-based eponymous label in Paris.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America ("CFDA"), which serves as the organizing body for both New York Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week: Men's, has confirmed the news, as has PR Consulting.
"The CFDA is delighted to add Raf Simons to NYFW: Men’s,” said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA. “Raf is one of the most influential designers on the international fashion stage. His creativity and energy are a welcome addition as we continue to grow this important platform for American menswear.”
Making its debut in July 2015, NYFW: Men’s runs for several days each July and February, encompassing upwards of 50 American menswear shows and presentations. Iconic design houses such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger show along with such recent hot-shots as Public School, Thom Browne, and Rag & Bone. This season, the shows run from January 30-February 2, 2017.
