Rihanna has been named "creative director" of Kering-owned sportswear brand, Puma. The seven-time Grammy Award winner and the CFDA’s 2014 Fashion Icon is slated to oversee the sporting goods maker’s women’s line as part of a "multi-year partnership." Before we get too crazed, let's clarify one thing: the "creative director" title. According to WWD, Rihanna is to take a hands-on approach with Puma’s fitness and training line, including apparel, as well as shoes. The singer “will work with Puma to design and customize classic Puma styles as well as create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio,” the company said on Tuesday. She will also act as the company’s global brand ambassador. This sounds more like a creative consultant role than a creative director. In fact, it sounds like the same role Solange Knowles took at Puma last year, under the title of Art Director and Creative Consultant. Regardless of the title, it will be interesting to see what Rihanna has in store for Puma. Of the deal, Bjørn Gulden, Puma's CEO said: "Signing Rihanna is a fantastic step for Puma. Her global profile, her charisma and individuality, her ambition make her a perfect ambassador for our brand."
