“Just as on the runway, the lineup of lookbook images is always deliberate; it provides a trajectory that reveals how we’re meant to read a collection,” wrote Vogue’s Amy Verner in connection with Givenchy’s recently released Resort 2017 lookbook. For Givenchy, which unlike at least a couple of its sibling brands - namely, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior - did not stage a three-day affair of a Resort show, this takes the form of a dichotomy of couture refinement and streetwear elements. There are the neo-baroque shapes, cascading ruffles came trimmed in pearls, and coats with long tulle overlays, but also bold branding (think: the word Givenchy running down the side of track pants or on the front of Chinese face masks), and graphic bands, star motifs and Egyptian prints.
The lookbook, complete with men’s and women’s fashion, was shot primarily shot on the streets of Naples, and closes with the house’s denim range, which stars models Bella Hadid and shot in studio rounded out the season. Modeled by Bella Hadid and Alessia Pozzi.
