Sofia Vergara Files $15M Right of Publicity Suit Against Beauty Company

Actress Sofia Vergara has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Venus Concepts for using a photo of her without permission — an endorsement that costs upwards of $15 million. According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this past week, the beauty company used Vergara’s name and likeness without her permission in online advertising, as well as at trade shows, for the company's “Legacy” skin tightening massage treatment, which the actress used in August 2014 in preparation for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards.

A legal team for the Modern Family actress, who inked an endorsement deal with Cover Girl in 2011, asserts in the lawsuit: "Vergara tried the Legacy treatment, but ultimately did not like it, finding that it was a waste of time and money with little in the way of any results … She would not use it again, and certainly would not endorse it nor agree to appear in an international advertisement campaign to promote it.”
