We caught up with a handful of the Wilhelmina-represented male models who walked the runways during New York Fashion Week and spoke with them about getting scouted, the Spring/Summer 2015 shows, why they love New York, and more. Meet: Travis Bland (who you may recognize from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign, which he appeared in alongside Adam Senn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, David Gandy, etc.).
Hometown: Nashville, TN.
I was scouted … in August 2009 at a modeling expo in New Orleans.
Did you think you were “model material” prior to being scouted? No. I was in my first year of college in Tennessee and my mom wanted me to get a side job, and like any mom, she thought I should be a model. So, I Googled "How to get scouted", went to the expo and moved to New York a week later.
Craziest thing that happened during NYFW: I guess I've been lucky. Nothing too crazy has happened!
Now that NYFW is over … I’m going to pig out, have a cheat week, not work out. Just not be a model for a week. I'll probably go home and visit my family, too.
I love NYC because … it is constantly changing and never mundane. Where I am from everyone is on a very standard path. You go to college, find a girlfriend, get a job, get married, buy a house. Here, there are aways so many opportunities to do different things.
Right now I’m obsessed with: Calisthenics workouts and cooking. I've been making a lot of shakes and Brazilian dishes.
