NEWGEN, the British platform for young designers, has named its latest honorees. In connection with the British Fashion Council and Topshop, NEWGEN, which was founded in 1993, provides sponsorships for London Fashion Week runway shows and presentations and has been a key launching pad for many of the country's best-known labels, including Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, JW Anderson, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Roksanda Ilincic and Simone Rocha. As such, when NEWGEN selects young talent, we pay attention.
This year's honorees: Marques Almeida, Lucas Nascimento (a look from his S/S 2014 pictured above) and 1205, which will all each receive catwalk sponsorships. Danielle Romeril and Ryan Lo, as well as Faustine Steinmetz and Ashley Williams, who are slated to receive presentation sponsorship. Lastly, Claire Barrow will receive an exhibition sponsorship. Of the initiative's S/S 2015 designers, Sarah Mower, the BFC's ambassador for emerging talent and chair of the NEWGEN selection committee, told British Vogue: "Each new wave brings its own ideas - in 2014, they are a unique combination of highly specialist, highly crafted and optimistically wearable."
