The Birkins bags picture above are not real. As of now the Birkin bag "waiting list" is largely a thing of the past. In a piece earlier this year, the Huffington Post declared: "Birkins falling from the heights of exclusivity and into the arms of the masses.” The publications was referring to the collection reality television family, the Kardashians, have been amassing. But keep in mind, just because anyone with about $10k can buy a once super-exclusive Birkin bag these days, that does not mean that they're readily available online.
Sure, Moda Operandi and eBay play hosts to the sale of authentic vintage Hermes bags, but can you find brand new Birkins and Kellys online? I wouldn't risk it, and I'll tell you one place I wouldn't shop ... Moaat.com. The bags on this site may have the hefty price tags (which are priced this high to seriously confuse consumers), but I promise these bags are far from real. Moaat allows you to build your own bag; you can choose the color, the hardware material, and even the size of your counterfeit bag at a "discounted price." Just so you know, Hermes never does discounts.
Lesson here: even if the website is charging authentic Hermes prices (or close to authentic Hermes prices, they're a bit cheap on Moaat.com), that doesn't mean the bags are authentic. This website is in clear violation of the Lanham Act (which provides the grounds for trademark law), as it is involved in serious trademark counterfeiting. When shopping Hermes, only buy from authorized retailers, and with only a few online exceptions, this means an Hermes store.
