You've probably heard by now that "selfie" got the royal treatment this year, being named Oxford Dictionary's word of the year for 2013. President Obama took a selfie at Nelson Mandela's memorial last week. Now, the selfie is getting even more attention, in Elle Poland, a true sign of the times. The fashion mag has dedicated a spread to everyone's favorite picture taking technique, which is featured alongside models Zuzanna Bijoch, Patrycja Gardygajlo, Emilia Nawarecka, Marta Makaj, Maria Loks, and Maja Salamon clad in Dries Van Noten, Carven, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, and Yohji Yamamoto. Not only is the Agata Pospieszynska-shot editorial styled quite well by Ina Lekiewicz; it is, if nothing, timely. The spread exemplifies the reflective nature of fashion. It is like Margherita Missoni said: “Fashion is the most immediate symptom of the times we live in. So, when you look at the shows and it’s unbelievable how well it reflects what's going on in the world.” And like it or not, the selfie is what's going on in the world right now.
