Another day, another case of design piracy. Today we have, Amber Sceats. Founded by mother and daughter Jeanette and Amber Sceats in 2012, this jewelry brand, which has been featured in Australian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Marie Claire, among other publications, is "heavily influenced by [the designers'] love of architecture and travel, and of the arts" ... and by Paris-based design house, Céline, apparently.
The Australia-based brand's Infinity Necklace (above, right) caught our eye, as it bears a truly striking similarity to Céline's brass and marble bottle green Bowl Necklace (above, left), which hit the runway as part of Phoebe Philo's Fall/Winter 2013 collection in March. Amber Sceats' version, which retails for $200, is part of its Spring 2014 collection. There are some variations (aside from differences in quality); Amber Sceats' necklace is gold plated and Céline's necklace is silver brass (although the design house produced a gold brass version with a slate black ball). Otherwise, the two designs are practically identical, no?
