After rumors that Anna Wintour pre-approved Kim and Kanye's baby name, as if it were a Resort 2014 collection, it appears Vogue really is signing off on the publicity scheme otherwise known as North West. Dalton Conley, a sociologist specializing in parenthood, has published an op-ed on Vogue.com's "Platforms" series defending Kanye and Kim Kardashian's choice of baby name. All North West jokes aside, we are puzzled by the connection between Kimye’s offspring and high fashion. Are those who care enough about this baby to read such an article really shopping $5,000 Oscar de la Renta dresses or made in the U.S. emerging designer wares? Is this just Vogue trying to keep up with the times and thus, slowly but very consistently abandoning its identity as a sophisticated source of fashion, as opposed to an upscale US Weekly? And better yet, is Paris Fashion Week now on the same playing field as celebrity gossip? These aren’t rhetorical questions. Tell us what you think!
