Kering’s Groupe Artemis Acquires a Minority Stake in Giambattista Valli

Kering – the parent company to Gucci, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta – has invested in Paris-based brand Giambattista Valli. Groupe Artemis, the investment arm of Kering’s founding Pinault family, confirmed that it has taken a minority stake in Valli’s larger Maison Valli company for an undisclosed sum, “with a view to acquiring control at a later stage,” per Reuters.

Paris-based Groupe Artemis said in a statement on Thursday that the investment will “support and contribute to the growth of Maison Valli,” which consists of Valli’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and Giamba diffusion lines.

The announcement comes just days ahead of the start of the Fall 2018 haute couture shows, where Valli – whose fans include Rihanna (who wore a show-stopping pink sorbet Giambattista Valli Couture frock to the 2015 Grammy Awards), Amal Clooney (who stepped out in Giambattista Valli couture just after her wedding to George Clooney), Emma Stone, Keira Knightley, and Kendall Jenner, among others – present his latest collection.

Valli, who launched his eponymous label in 2005, is largely known for his oversized frocks constructed from countless yards of tulle and mousseline.
